HabloKhan’s NCAA Football 12 Demo Impressions

Good Things

Field Degradation looks great, nice to get it working out of the box this year. I believe last year it was patched in later.
The diving catches look outstanding.
Entrances look good, but there should really be commentary during the entrances.
New playbook presentation takes a while to get used to, but once you do it’s fine.
HUM & CPU had success running out of the Spread. This is a big deal to me.
Players seem faster, not sure what speed the Demo is set to.
QB did scramble when plays broke down and running lane was available.
Tackling feels more fluid, seems to be less suction tackles. I did see some warping, but nothing too bad.
Saw some new TD celebrations.
Seeing the CPU over/under throw more passes, more variation is good.
Seeing A LOT more OL blocking at the 2nd & 3rd levels. I like.
Did not see any quick throws that go 2 yards by the QB right before a sack.
CPU Zones seem improved. Flats don’t seem to be automatically there anymore.
Not seeing the Linebacker super jump swat pass down plays. I played one game just chucking it over the middle every play, and did not see it once.

Not So Good Things

Stiff arm seems really ineffective.
Option plays still seem clunky but improved. If that makes sense.
Deep ball is still consistently there.
Still seeing psychic DBs.
CPU corners still blitz an awful lot.
Pass rush needs to be toned down just a bit, IMO. I was getting pretty consistent pressure with a 3 man front.
Not sure if I like the way they did dreads or not. Looks… well, it looks odd. Also, why does LaMichael James have dreads? Darron Thomas still wearing #1? SMH @ EA Roster “Gurus”. There will be much work to be done on this out of box roster. Thanks Sam Keller, douche.

The Bad

I cannot stop Trent Richardson. At all. Shenanigans.

This will be my first year with the PS3 version. No more PS2 version. Although I did play quite a bit on PS3 last year with friends’, so the game isn’t completely foreign to me. Looks like a more polished & tuned version of ‘11 and that isn’t a bad thing at all.
